An application tries to make an RPC call on a Windows 2003 Server and generates the following error:

There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper

Solution? Enable the Windows Firewall Service.

Can someone please tell me why I have to enable the Windows Firewall Service for this?

Beyond annoying.

**Note: Windows Firewall is terrible.
