This weekend was crazy busy…but good.
- Friday night, we had band practice for a while up at the church - good and productive.
- Saturday, we cleaned up around the house a lot. My dad came over to watch FSU defeat Alabama (yah!). What’s better? FSU winning or Florida getting beat by Auburn? Tough call.
- Sunday was jam-packed - Soundcheck in the morning followed by the church service (good, but on the lengthy side).
- Then there were a few errands to run and a birthday party for one of Taylor’s friends. It was at this place called PumpItUp! which is full of all these inflatable obstacle courses and slides, etc. It was actually a lot of fun. Taylor loved them all, which was surprising. Charlotte, true to form, was the little daredevil, insisting on doing them ALL even though she was the smallest one there.
- Oh, and Marie destroyed everyone at the party. She raced through the obstacle course like a true champ.
- Back to church early for soundcheck and PM service. Of special note: this was the last “traditional” Sunday evening service. Next week, a new service (The Edge) starts for the young crowd (18-35). Excited for that. Due to only having one car in town, I hitched a ride home from my dad after church - like being a kid again or something.
- Most entertaining/embarassing thing of the weekend? Flubbing the intro to a song we’ve played 100 times. It’s one where I click off a few beats and we do a little intro thing. One of the other band members came in early, which completely froze me and I forgot what song we were even starting. So, umm, yes, we had to give that another shot. That hasn’t happened in a LONG time. All you can do is smile and move on…oh yeah, and try to never do it again!
Overall - a marathon, great weekend.
Looking forward to: Columbus Day next Monday. Yes, it is actually a holiday and I do get to be off work that day. A long weekend will be nice. ![]()
