You’ve surely heard of comfort food. It’s food that people find comforting or soothing for a variety of reasons, including it being associated with childhood, good memories, etc. Well, there are also comfort movies for me. I thought I was crazy when I thought about this, but a quick Google search revealed that others have “comfort movies” as well.
These are movies I can watch innumerable times and that are especially enjoyable to watch after a long day or during a stressful time. These are not necessarily my favorite, desert-island or guilty pleasure films, though some of these could fit onto those lists. In no particular order:
- Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
- Groundhog Day
- Superman: The Movie / Superman II
- The ‘Burbs
- Armageddon
- Back to the Future
- Rocky IV (yes, part 4)
- The Goonies
- The Truman Show
- The Princess Bride
Honorable mentions: The Day The Earth Stood Still, Red Dawn and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
Do you have any movies that are nice to find on TNT or whatever after a long day?

Rocky IV is without a doubt the best of the series. Sly is a beast.

I find myself watching “Comfort” movies when I’m home sick…You can just kind of watch them without watching them…And still enjoy them. You can even dose off for 45 min or so and wake up and know exactly what’s going on.
