Memo to Retailers:

Christmas is on December 25 - over two months away. I have been in numerous retail establishments over the last several weeks that not only have Christmas displays but that are also playing Christmas music.

Please stop. Now.

To me, the “Christmas Season” starts the day after Thanksgiving. That’s when you’ll find Christmas movies in my DVD player and Christmas tunes on my iPod. Of course, I am not proclaiming when it should start for everyone, but it is getting ridiculous.

If this trend continues, I will not be surprised to see Christmas decorations going up immediately after Labor Day…and then Independence Day.

I love Christmas. I love the whole time of year. However, let’s not make it a literal three month-long season.
