On Saturday, we celebrated Taylor’s second birthday. As long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a dad. Naturally, I was excited for his arrival. Nothing could have prepared me for it though.
I never would have expected the absolute joy that comes from being a dad. There is nothing better than coming home and hearing him scream “Daddy!” when I come through the door and insist I pick him up or seeing him peeking out the window waiting for me to pull into the driveway. No stressful workday could possibly compete with that. Occasionally, he wakes up in the night and just wants his daddy to come sit with him for a few minutes until he falls back to sleep. It is amazing how sometimes it can actually be nice to be woken up at 4 AM.
He recently got a new pair of little New Balance shoes that resemble mine. When he wore them for the first time, he just had to proudly show me his “Daddy shoes.” So far, he loves his new little sister and insists that she is “My baby!! My baby!!”
Even sitting around watching countless episodes of Thomas the Tank Engine and Go Diego Go with him is a blast.
He also adores Marie. He won’t go to sleep at night without giving his mom a hug and a kiss. If I forget to take him in there to her, he just insists, “Mama kees. Mama kees.”
He is one of the best things to ever come into our lives. Marie and I are so blessed with him and I thank God for him every day.

Wonderful words about being a dad! My prayer is that every man would find the joy in fatherhood that you are finding. Enjoy everyday with your children, time slides through the hour glass SO FAST that before you know it, you are the father of a father who is loving being a dad.
From some one who also loved it and now loves being Taylor and Charlotte’s Grand Dad
